God Makes Us Able

One of my favorite passages of scripture is 2 Corinthians 3:5:

It is God who makes us able to do all that we do.

Until you come to a place where you truly believe that you are doing what God has designed you to do, you will deal with chronic self-doubt and indecision. This creates an unnecessary energy drain as well as a lack of focus and follow-through. But, if you can come to a place where you are confident you are doing what God has called you to do, it changes everything.

One of the most power181818ful moments in my life was when God told me to quit being afraid in regards to my calling. Up until that moment I didn’t even realize I had fear in this area. But once He spoke this to me, I began to recognize how true it was and how much my fear was limiting me. Knowing I couldn’t remove it myself, I cried out to Him to remove it for me.

To this day I remember waking up the next morning and knowing it was completely gone. From that day forward my fear has been replaced with a strong confidence that God has hardwired me to do what I do. This has produced enormous freedom in me and makes everything I do so much easier. Whether it is praying for the sick, preparing a sermon, preaching a sermon, thinking through difficult decisions, or counseling someone in need, I have no doubt that what I need will be readily available to me.

I pray that whatever you are doing for God, you come to a place where you quit doubting and begin believing that God has made you able.

John
