Reaching out in our community.
Community Care and Prayer is a group of churches and community volunteers working together to meet practical needs for people in our community. As the volunteers assemble and provide groceries to families in need we aim to build community and support for everyone involved. We offer an ear to listen, a shoulder to cry on and a prayer to the God who hears and helps us all for both volunteers and families in need.
It’s Much more Than Handing out Food
The ministry of Community Care and Prayer is more than just distributing food to families in need. It is about showing God’s love and declaring the Good News that God loves you. It is about touching the hearts of the people with a divine message through human connection.
Not all volunteers will be of the Christian faith and we welcome anyone to participate. We do not apologize for our viewpoint as we believe the greatest human need is to know God’s love. God has given everyone free will to choose to follow Him or not, and as His representatives we offer this love but do not force our views on anyone. All are welcome to receive the food, volunteer to help and not receive prayer or have to participate in anything they do not want to.
Showing God’s Love – As we give out groceries, we are showing a physical act of love so that others will know that God loves and cares about them. Meeting the physical needs of these families provides a way for us to also meet their spiritual needs. Whether a person knows Jesus Christ as their Savior or not, we can let God shine through us so that we reflect who Jesus is.
Touching Hearts – We believe God sent His Son to die for us so we can have a relationship with Him. We are messengers of this awesome truth by truly connecting with people. Jesus is the perfect example for us when He walked on the earth. He displayed and declared the Gospel, after intentionally getting to know them. He talked with people like the woman at the well, the blind, and the lame before He healed them. He asked them questions and let them know that they were special to Him.
Some of the ways you can volunteer on the 4th Thursday of every month (July and October we meet the 3rd not the 4th Thursday)
