If God were not for you, He would have stayed in heaven.

He came down here to rescue you. To restore you. To re-connect with you and to partner with you in life.

Your understanding of God, and how he views you, will dramatically affect your life for good or bad.

I remember when I was in business before I was in ministry, I did not think God and business mixed. We hear so much negative stuff about money, wealth, and prosperity that it is as though God is clean, and money is dirty.

I think much of this comes from bad teaching. For instance, how many times have you heard this Scripture quoted, “Money is the root of all evil.” But that is not what it says at all. It says,

The LOVE of money is a root of all kinds of evil.” 1 Timothy 6:10

Once I learned that God wanted to help our business prosper, that He wanted to bless us so that we could be a blessing, (think the Abrahamic covenant – Genesis 12:1-3), my view of God began to change – especially after He miraculously raised our business from the trash heap.

This is not about money. That is just one example. That experience helped me realize that God wants to be involved in every area of our lives, for good, whether it is sports, ministry, marriage, hobbies, vacations, inventions, parenting, etc.

As a parent, aren’t you interested in everything your child is doing? And don’t you want them to succeed in life? Are you better than God?

God came down to raise you up.

In fact, that is exactly what the Bible says,

But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.” Ephesians 2:4-7

My favorite part of this verse is how it states that the reason God saved us was so that He could show us His kindness for ages to come. What a good God!

As you open gifts this Christmas, remember that the best gift you will receive is God Himself. He was not wrapped in shiny paper, ribbons, and bows, but in swaddling clothes. And His gift to you was the most expensive gift you will ever receive, the life of His Son.

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23

God came down to raise you up. He is on your side. He wants you to successfully fulfill His purpose for your life down here, then spend eternity with Him up there. There is no gift better than that!

Merry Christmas!

John

What difference do you think it would make in your life if you realized God is for you, in everything you do?
