“It is not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the Lord.” Zechariah 4:6

I was SO inspired when I saw the thousands of people who showed up to pray at the Washington Mall on Saturday. On the same day thousands of pray-ers, representing over one hundred churches, showed up at close to one hundred schools in San Diego to pray for administrators, principals, teachers, coaches, aids, parents, and kids. Why? Well, because we are in dire straits and need God’s intervention.

But there is a truth beyond that. Did you know that we were never designed to live life without God, and His strength, which is why I believe, we are in this mess right now?

Not knowing this, and practicing it, is why life can be SO heavy at times. Way beyond what you can lift yourself.

When I work out with my kids, we are “spotters” for one another. A spotter is someone who stands behind you while you are lifting, and when you cannot do any more reps, the spotter helps lift the weight.

This is what the Holy Spirit is called to do in your life.

That is why the Scriptures say, “Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the Lord.”

Zerubbabel was trying to complete a project, rebuilding the house of God, but he ran into a brick wall (no pun intended). That is when God reminded him that he was not to build it alone, but in partnership with the Holy Spirit.

That is why it goes on to say,

“The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this temple, and his hands shall also finish it. Then you will know that the Lord of Hosts has sent me to you.” Zechariah 4:9

It is a partnership.

You cannot, nor were you designed to, handle life alone. Neither is a family, a church, or a nation.

When we learn this, we can say with the apostle Paul,

“I can do all things through Christ Who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13

So, how do we partner with God? The main way is through prayer.

That is why I was so thankful when I saw all the pray-ers on Saturday! It gave me hope because when we pray, the Spirit of God is released.

You may know this truth, but are you doing it? That is where the power comes, not from knowing, but doing.

If you are not praying, tell your flesh to shut up and just dive in. Just start. Like right now. Just say, “Good afternoon, Father…” and just pour out your heart to Him. He will LOVE it, and the Spirit of God will begin to “spot” you.
