Join us LIVE every Sunday at 10am. or view the recorded worship and message here.

The world is incredibly unstable right now, but Jesus is unmoved and in total control. And when you walk closely with Him your heart will become calm, your mind clear, and you will find all the strength you need to be an overcomer in this life.

The truth is, you have been call to Someone, not to something.

You have not been called to a religion, a philosophy, a set of rules, or religious performance. You have been called by the Savior to the Savior.

The series began by studying the story of Jesus walking with two of His disciples on the road to Emmaus found in Luke 24:13-35.

I hope you will join us for the entire series. If you do, I believe you will find your love for Jesus growing deeper than ever before.

Since we are not meeting on Sunday mornings and having the Prayer Team available, we want to provide an opportunity for GPC members to connect for personal prayer.

Connect Group leaders are also available to their members here.

The following Prayer Team members would like to make themselves available to you by email. Please copy and paste the email address to send an email.

Dear GPC Faith Family,

Before I share with you about how we will be doing church together this Sunday, I want to remind you that, as it relates to the Coronavirus, God is in control. One of the overriding trademarks of Christ-followers is that we do not fear. Let’s remember this truth as the world navigates this temporary crisis,

“God has not given you a spirit of fear, but of power, and love, and a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7

And ultimately, and as always, God is our hope, not the government, doctors, medicine, or any other human source. We appreciate all of them, but as the word says,

“It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in people. It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in princes.” Psalm 118:8-9 NLT

“He takes no pleasure in the strength of a horse or in human might.  No, the LORD’s delight is in those who fear him, those who put their hope in his unfailing love.” Psalm 147:10-11 NLT

I would also like to say that at the same time that we exercise faith, we also need to exercise wisdom, which the Bible says is the “principal thing”.

In my last letter I told you that we would still be meeting with adjustments to our service. But since that time, not only have the cautions for gathering increased, but we just received notice last night that the Poway Unified School District is suspending the use of all their facilities, which would include where we meet, Mt. Carmel High School, for at least the rest of March.

In light of this the leadership has decided that our best option for continuing to worship together would be via Facebook Live. (If you do not have Facebook, join a friend who does or we will be uploading the services to our website Sunday evening so you can access the recorded version there).

In order to be able to stay completely in harmony with Gathering Place Church, please visit the following link and click “LIKE” on the Gathering Place Facebook page.  This will allow you to follow the most up to date information that we are sharing in terms of COVID-19.  You will also be able to see when we are live on Sunday mornings and join us in a virtual community celebration of God at 10am.

Side note: Did you know that the Chinese symbol for “Crisis” also happens to be the same symbol for “Opportunity”?  Since God told us that He is going to show us his Glory this year, let’s determine to make this “crisis” an “opportunity” and find a way to bless those around us.

I see doing Virtual Church as an opportunity to turn a negative into a positive.

You will be able to get your cup of coffee and enjoy church in your pajamas! Or gather with your family, roommates, and/or invite a few people from GPC, and/or your neighborhood to join you as we go live from my home to yours. This could be a wonderful opportunity to invite people to “church” that might otherwise not come!

Start Time: The service will begin at 10:00 am sharp as usual.

Worship: Josh will be joining us at our home to lead us in worship. My daughter Bella will be leading us as well.

Teaching: I have a word that I have been looking forward to sharing with you all week long called, God My Shepherd.

Offering: You can give online at GIVING, or text to give at 84321 with amount, or mail a check to P.O. Box 1078, Poway Ca. 92074.

Prayer: I will lead us in a prayer for healing and salvation towards the end of the broadcast.

We are all going to get through this together, and God is going to be glorified by how we communicate peace and calm in the midst of fear and uncertainty. Do you remember the word God gave to us for 2020?

“Arise, shine; for your light has come! And the glory of the LORD is risen upon you. For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and deep darkness the people; but the LORD will arise over you, and His glory will be seen upon you. The Gentiles shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising.”       Isaiah 60:1-3 NKJ

Let’s shine so He can shine!

I look forward to worshiping with you on Sunday!
