Worship History

GPC began with just a handful of people who wanted to do something great for God. Our lead Pastor, John Ettore, helped lead a dynamic, 3000 member spirit-filled, non-denominational, charismatic church in San Diego East County for twelve years. While on sabbatical the Lord spoke to his heart to plant a church. Now, years later GPC has become a thriving non-denominational, charismatic congregation serving North County San Diego through presence driven church services, as well as impacting our city and the world through local and global missions.

 The 4 Pillars

After planting the church John was praying in the parking lot one day when the Lord told him to pray around the elementary school building where we were meeting. He told John that He would give him something to pray into the foundation of each corner of the building. The words were:

Prayer, Compassion, Prophecy and Praise

These have become the foundational pillars of the house.

Prayer: The advancement of the kingdom of God is a spiritual battle and therefore only advances through prayer. The Bible makes this clear in Ephesians 6:12, “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” But James states that we can have the victory through prayer! “The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working].” James 5:16 amp

Compassion: The Bible tells us that we can have the faith to move mountains and all knowledge but if we do not have love, we are nothing. The Bible tells us that, “God is love.” 1 John 4:8 Therefore, if we are going to be a congregation that represents Jesus, we must have love in all we do!

Prophecy: God is still speaking today. He does not add to or contradict Scripture, but He is speaking to His children. We believe that the ministry of the Holy Spirit, with all of His gifts, is still in operation today and is a vital part of seeing the Church fulfill its mission in the earth.

Praise: Praise is powerful. Praise brings the presence of God. Praise pushes back the enemy (Psalm 9). Praise is one of the mightiest weapons God has ever given to the Church. God is worthy of our praise and He is worthy of our best praise. Therefore we have many skillful musicians who love to praise God with their whole heart! Praise and worship is a big part of our church’s DNA.
