How can you experience perfect peace? By Imagineering with God.

What is “Imagineering”? It is a term coined by the Disney company. It is imagining things that don’t exist yet. We find a similar word in this popular verse which also promises us perfect peace.

“You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. Trust in the Lord forever, for in Yah, the Lord, is everlasting strength.” Isaiah 26:3-4

The word translated, “mind” is not the usual Hebrew word, but rather a word meaning, “Creative imagination” which is the seat of planning and ideas.

I am fascinated with inventions and creative ideas. Just look around you and you will find things that you take for granted that solved a problem or met a need. Like harnessing electricity. Or the combustion engine which produced the car. Or telephones. Or the wheel. Or the Simple Church model which is causing the gospel to spread like wildfire throughout the world! These all originated in someone’s imagination.

So, what does this mean for you? Well, God gave you an imagination as a tool for creating and problem solving in every area of your life. However, as I am sure you know, your imagination can work for, or against you. It can also work for or against the world, and God’s kingdom. What do I mean by that?

When we allow our imagination to be controlled by fear we become victims of our own imagination, producing the worst-case scenarios, and expecting them to come to pass.

Like, for instance, at this point we still do not know who our next president is going to be. However, what we do know, according to the imagination of people on both sides of the political spectrum, whoever becomes president is going to be a reincarnation of Hitler. THAT is Imagineering without God.

This kind of Imagineering works against you in that it will produce fear and anxiety, not peace, and it will work against the world, and the kingdom of God, because you will not come up with creative solutions to the world’s ills, or new ways to reach the lost.

However, if you choose to imagine with God, you will produce productive, world changing, kingdom expanding ideas. This will keep you positive, making a difference, and in perfect peace.

For instance, no matter who wins the election, what if you invited God into your imagination, asking the Creator of the Universe how you can best serve Him and the world? In other words, if your guy loses, rather than becoming overly anxious and fearful, thinking our nation is going down the toilet and there is nothing you can do about it, ask God for creative ideas that will make a positive difference for His kingdom.

Do you think He will have nothing positive to offer you if your guy does not win? No, in fact, the more difficult the situation, the more creative God will be, because the biggest problems require the biggest imaginations.

Keep your imagination God-centered. If you will, you will produce God-sized solutions and experience God’s perfect peace.
