NEXT WOMEN’S EVENT – June 12 @10:30 am – 12:00 pm

Women at GPC

SUMMARY FROM APRIL WOMEN’S GATHERING

It was more than we could have asked for! We had young and old, saved and unsaved, friends and family. It was a precious time of fellowship and we expect to do more in the future!

Of course, it was a shock to find our main speaker, Mary Jane (MJ) Mester in the hospital, but Mary and I did our best to seek Holy Spirit to direct our time. MJ’s desire was to share stories of how God puts His voiceprint in our hearts.

Shell shared from Eph 3:16-21 – highlighted the word – grasp – Greek “katalambano” – to experience – make it your own. This year showed us that we need to be strengthened from the inside. That comes from spending time with Him – experiencing Him for ourselves.

The Written Word helps us get to know the living Word. We need both understanding and experience.

Shell shared – “My first 10 years as a Christian I did everything to get more Bible knowledge and apply it – I did all the right things such as teaching Sunday School, give generously, went on mission trips, went to Bible college, etc. I burnt out on my strength trying to do it all and then went to Mark’s church where I started to learn how to experience God – changed everything. I was thankful for the grounding of the Written Word and now the experience of His love.

My birth mom joined the Abiding Prayer group from Canada when I started it on zoom last year. A group of us ladies meet weekly and practice God’s presence, learn how to hear His voice, and experience His written word. My birth mom and I have been reunited for over 20 years and she is a dedicated Christian and worked at a church before she retired. She shared with me that everything has changed in this last year of being in the group and experiencing God for herself. She is hearing His voice more and more, enjoying life more, worrying less, and sleeping better. She listens to our church online now and is hungry for more.

Mary shared on the importance of knowing our identity in Christ and His in us. She related a story last summer where she’d bought a tiara for her granddaughter’s birthday that arrived late. When it did, she discovered it was more for an adult than a child. Thinking to put it away in her closet for a later time, she sheepishly tried it on and was immediately embarrassed. Months later she shared the story with me and I marched her back to the dressing room to try it on again and hear what the Lord had to say. It was a powerful revelation. Since September 5, 2020, Mary has put on what she calls “her crown” every morning to hear what the Lord has to say to her. She specifically shared a January 17th revelation with us: “I would wear the crown of thorns for you again so that you might wear this one always.” Mary’s point was this: if you’re not hearing His voice, or reading it in His Word, you’re missing out on great truth, comfort, direction, and understanding of Who our God is and who we are to Him.

We broke into small groups and enjoyed meaningful interaction. Lastly, we prayed for those who were sick among us. Mary shared a document she prepared on “How to Process a Promise” Recently a scripture was highlighted to her in her Bible reading and she shows how she digs deep to better understand the Word using www.biblehub.com

WOMEN’S MINISTRY

SHELL COWPER-SMITH AND MARY PUPLAVA

GPC Women’s Ministry

Shell Cowper-Smith and Mary Puplava share some thoughts from
Hope Ettore, Marcia Brown, Angela Willett.

GPC women’s ministry is about drawing out what God has put in us, so we get to know Him more. We are all unique and when we come together, we see more of Jesus – like a beautiful tapestry.

We want to hear from you as well so send a comment on the form below or email – info@gatheringplacechurch.org

As women, we know the value of relationships. Even though we are busy – we know the value of a talk with a good friend… whether it’s with coffee, or over the phone, at the park with kids, a quick email, or a good cry on a best friend’s shoulder, we were made for relationships and connecting. We have many ways women can connect.

GPC WOMEN’S RETREAT – 2021 – Date to be determined

On a deeper level, we crave a spiritual connection with other women of faith. We want to share our hearts and we want to grow as vibrant followers of Jesus Christ, loving him more each day. We want to learn to trust and we want to be healed from past hurts so we can walk in victory. We want a safe place to open up and be ourselves. We want to laugh and share our deepest joys, and we want to have friends who care when we go through hard times. And each of us wants to be a good friend in return.

Besides connecting with other women, there are other things that matter to us. We care deeply about our families but want to do something beyond our own four walls. We want to reach out to our community and our world. Making a difference matters to us. We want to discover how we can impact our world with the gifts we have been given; and, we want to introduce others to Jesus.

Retreats are so refreshing and re-firing.  We have one each year.

GPC WOMEN’S TITUS 2 MINISTRY

“Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God.” Titus 2:3-5

Mission Statement

Promoting godly lifestyles that are the fruit of the gospel through personal intercession, encouragement and training from one woman to another.
